You know how people love to say they’re dorky, but they’re not dorky, they’re just quirky and cute? I am actually dorky.
I’m obsessed with efficiency, and have always looked for the fastest and best way to do anything. (I die a little when I get a giant Amazon box full of bubble wrap, packing peanuts, tissue paper, and the two double-A batteries I ordered.)
All I have ever strived for is to help marginalized people, fight for justice, and empower vulnerable people and communities. I’ve worked in non-profit management consulting, HIV Prevention, reproductive health, youth development, harassment prevention, CDC evidence-based program training and intervention design, at-risk adolescent health and behavior change, social marketing, Internet-based education and intervention design, new-media digital marketing for service organizations, new-media informed, community-based-participatory-approaches to program development, and digital advertising for service organizations. So I’ve been around.
Now I’m obsessed with a more efficient way to get people the help and support they need by making the agencies that serve them more efficient. New Media is that efficiency innovation, and I teach agencies that help others ways to use it to create authentic, science-based digital marketing materials.
But, it’s just more efficient to have the people those materials are designed to reach take part in their creation.
